Association of Legal Administrators Valley of the Sun Chapter 2009/2010 Slate of Officers
President: Chris Proctor, CLM
Chris is the Firm Administrator for Levenbaum & Cohen and has been with firm since 2000. Prior to joining the firm and the legal field, she worked as a Controller in the banking, commercial real estate, farming and grocery industries in Arizona and California.
Chris has been a member of ALA since 2000. She has served on the chapter’s Board of Directors as President Elect, Vice President, Treasurer and Member-at-Large. She has also chaired the Staffing & Development, Vendor Olympics and Business Partnering committees. In 2008, Chris served on the Regional Nominating Committee and obtained her CLM.
President-Elect: Holly Einspahr
Holly Einspahr joined ALA in June 2000 and has been an active participant in the Chapter. She served a term as Member at Large during which time she chaired the Community Challenge Committee benefiting the UMOM Shelter. She was Secretary for two years and is the current Vice
President. Holly was born in Michigan and moved to the Valley in 1985. After ten years as a legal secretary at a Phoenix firm, she began a new career as an Administrator in 1996. She is currently with the Titus, Brueckner & Berry in north Scottsdale.
Vice President: Ryder Houston
Ryder joined the law firm of Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP in 2001 and became their Office Manager four years later. Upon assuming the position as Office Manager, he subsequently joined ALA and the Valley of the Sun Chapter. He has been an active member ever since. During the past four years with ALA, he has served as both Library Chair and Director-At-Large. Ryder is a native of Oak Park, Illinois, attended the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado and spent numerous years living in London, England working for a professional sports team. In 1993 Ryder moved back to the States and claimed Arizona his adopted home. Along with his responsibilities to the law firm and ALA duties, he is active in a number of animal welfare organizations including the Arizona Animal Welfare League, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Arizona Humane Society.
Past-President: Pam Molnar, CLM
Pam Molnar joined ALA in 2001 and has been an active member since that time serving as President-Elect, Vice President, Member-At-Large, Community Challenge Chairperson, Business Partner Chairperson, and assisted on a variety of other committees. She will now serve as the Chapter's President.
Pam began working in the legal industry in 1988 while attending Arizona State University where she received her Bachelors degree in English. She became the Office Manager and Gibson Ferrin & Riggs in 2004 and earned her CLM in 2006.
Secretary: Sandra Haislet
Sandra Haislet is the Firm Administrator for Low & Childers, P.C. Sandy attended W. R. Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in 1995. Sandy moved to Arizona and began her legal career in 1996 and joined the Association of Legal Administrators in 2002. Sandy has been an active member since that time and has served her local chapter as Member-At-Large, Salary Survey Chairperson, Community Challenge Chairperson and served on the Staffing and Development Committee.
Treasurer: Lou Servin
Lou Servin is a CPA, licensed in both Arizona and Illinois. He has been a member of national ALA since 1991 and the Valley of the Sun Chapter since moving here in 2000 from Chicago. During that time he has served one term as Treasurer, and been chairperson for the Program and Staffing & Development Committees. He was employed by a law firm in Chicago for 17 years as Controller, and while in Arizona has been employed in the legal profession as Controller, Accounting Manager, Administrator, and currently as International Accountant at Littler Mendelson, P.C. He resides with his wife, Mary, in Glendale, and is rooting for a Super Bowl win by the Cardinals in Tampa on Sunday. He appreciates and looks forward to the opportunity to again serve on the Board of Directors as Treasurer.
Members-At-Large:
Martha Castillo, CLM
Martha Castillo is the Manager, General Counsel Administration of the Pinnacle West Capital Corporation's (parent company for Arizona Public Service Company ("APS"), Arizona's largest electric utility company) Law Department. She also manages the Company's Corporate Records and Shareholder Services. Martha has worked in the legal industry for more than fifteen years. Prior to joining the Law Department, she held various leadership positions within the Company. Since becoming a member of ALA, Martha has held the Chapter position of Chairman of the Staffing and Development Committee.
Robert Crowell
Bob Crowell is the Executive Director of Ryley Carlock & Applewhite. Bob graduated from Emory University with a Bachelors degree in Economics and earned an MBA in Finance and Accounting at New York University. He has been employed in the legal industry for over 20 years, having worked in law firms ranging in size from 20 to over 400 lawyers. Bob has participated in two large law firm mergers.
Since becoming a member of ALA , Bob has been active at the chapter and national level. He served as the President of the Boston Chapter in 1985 and held several positions in the Dallas Chapter including President Elect during the early 1990's. Bob served on the ALA's National Board of Directors from 1995-1999.
Julie Hoort
Julie Hoort began her legal career as a paralegal in Michigan in 1996, after attending Michigan State University and Lansing Community College. She moved to Phoenix in 1999, and was hired as a litigation paralegal for the law firm of Bohm & Jones, P.C. She quickly moved into the Office Manager position and has been with the firm for 10 years. Julie joined the ALA in 2003. She has been a member of the Salary Survey Committee, and currently manages the chapter List Serve.
Carole M. Spivey
Carole Spivey entered the field of law firm management in the 1980’s when she joined a 200 attorney law firm in Denver, CO as Director of Human Resources. She became active in ALA after being asked to serve on the ALA Human Resources Committee at the National Level.
After her initial involvement, Carole realized the value of ALA for her professional growth and continued to participate in various capacities over the years. She served at both the Local and National Levels in positions such as Regional Director; Annual Educational Conference Program Chair; Member of the Task Force on Administrator Accreditation; Bar Liaison (Denver, San Francisco and Phoenix Chapters), Chapter Officer, and other activities too numerous to mention..
Carole’s law firm experience spans small and large law firm environments, including Principal Administrator as well as Branch Office Administrator roles. She has been Executive Director of Ridenour Hienton in Phoenix, AZ since 2001. Since joining The Valley of The Sun Chapter Carole has served as Program Co-Chair and Bar Liaison.
